WordPress runs well on our hosting because we provide the PHP and MySQL versions it needs.
Before you start
- Add your domain under My Websites in your dashboard.
- Point the domain to our server (see the DNS articles) so you can open the site in your browser.
Method 1: Install from the hosting control panel
- In your dashboard, open My Hosting and click Open Control Panel.
- Find your website in the control panel's website list and open its management page.
- Use the WordPress installer option, enter a site title, admin username, a strong password and your email, and start the installation.
- When it finishes, open
https://your-domain/wp-adminand log in.
The exact names of buttons in the control panel can change with updates. If you get stuck, open a support ticket and tell us the domain, and we will guide you.
Method 2: Manual installation
- Download the latest WordPress from wordpress.org and unzip it.
- In the control panel, create a MySQL database and a database user, and note the database name, username and password.
- Upload the WordPress files to your website's public folder using the file manager or FTP.
- Open your domain in a browser and follow the WordPress setup screens, entering the database details when asked.
After installing
- Keep WordPress, themes and plugins updated. Outdated plugins are the most common reason websites get hacked.
- Use a strong admin password and avoid the username "admin".
- Consider a caching plugin to make your site faster and lighter on server resources.
